Billing

Anonymous
Not applicable

I got my new HTC and switched to o2 21st of July.

22nd of July I already have a bill.

The CS officer on Live chat tells me that is industry's standard line rental.

When I click on the bill it gives me this:

Date issued
22 July 2015

Billing period
Until 22 July 2015

The CS officer tells me it's a display bug and billing period should read Until 22nd of August.
This payment is due 5th of August. Next one issued 21st of August.

Is this normal? Is it actually a "line rental" bill?
How can they issue a bill for a service I hadn't used yet?
I'm a bit confused. My switch to O2 with this issue and another one I had picking up the phone at the O2 store is off to a very rocky start. 😐

@jonsie is correct. The first bill is issued a few days after start of contract will always be slightly higher (and sooner) than many people expect.... I am quite concerned that Live Chat didn't seem to realise this and told you it was a display error. That information was incorrect.... (One of the reasons we advise people to speak to someone if it is an account issue) :slight_frown:

Your first bill is produced a couple of days after you get the phone as you pay one month in advance. The first bill includes that first couple of days and one month airtime which is your tariff. This means your first bill will be slightly more than your future bills.

Payment is always 14 days after the bill is produced and your bill will always be due on the same date every month.

It's totally normal, and is what happens to everyone.

Your bills will be as expected from next month.
