Activating new nano sim

Hello. Just got a NANO Sim from the O2 shop PAYG. can't figure out how to activate it. I don't have a number it want to use it in a separate phone (android phone) It's showing (emergency service only) Tried going to top up online and sending txt to 20202 neither worked. How do I get a number for this sim and activate it on PAYG.

I'm wondering if you've got a blank SIM card which are for transferring your existing number and tariff to.

To activate a usual payg sim you just insert it into a phone and you get all the set up texts.

Is the phone you have unlocked to all networks or accepts an O2 SIM card.

You've probably picked up a blank sim designed to swap an existing number. You need to get one with a number attached and top up at purchase.

Sounds like a contract sim not a PAYG one.

My advice is to go back to the O2 shop and pick one up or order one here https://www.o2.co.uk/freesim/

You'll need to obtain the correct one from the shop.
Check your local stores opening times as some do open on Sundays.

Thanks guys. Didn't know about the different sims. Makes sense. So one is for transfer and one with number.

I'm not sure you can pick a nano sim from the supermarkets so instore would be your best option.

Yes.

If someone changes phones and needs a different sized SIM card or theirs has become faulty a blank one allows you to transfer your number and tariff to it.

You can get blank contract and P&G from instore but yes, they are different. Just ask for a P&G with a number.
