I've had a txt from O2 system nag 08 numbers will be charged an access fee of 25 p when it comes in soon that 08 numbers are free. Does this mean dialling a freefone 0800 number will incur a 25 p charge? Tried the live chat & no use at all!

Bit of a keep the networks happy kind of clause in honesty. Spineless for a regulatory body. Give with one hand while the other hand is picking your pocket!

It has and it makes you wonder just whose best interests they are looking after. Why on earth does it take a couple of years to implement any change?

I would imagine the changes were made with the full agreement of Ofcom as explained here: http://media.ofcom.org.uk/news/2013/Telephone-call-charges-to-be-made-simpler/

In fact it was Ofcom who brought in these changes.

It was Ofcom that brought in the changes. The text we got from O2 that started this thread included this statement 'for further info see http://www.ukcalling.info/. The Ofcom logo is shown on every page you click on..

Changes are just about how the charges are displayed. o2 have taken this as a chance to increase the prices.

It certainly falls in the "detrimental to customers" category if you can prove you regularly call these numbers.
Unfortunately, it appears that every mobile operator will be charging the same...... (some may still offer certain numbers free though).
