Hi @jonnymk and welcome.

You can check out more here http://mobi.o2.co.uk/pl/svt/si/mo2couk/po/o2uk/pa/4ghome and also if your on a contract with a 4G sim and compatible handset you can upgrade your account to a 4G version for free so if you do commute to somewhere that has 4G then you can enjoy those speeds plus your then ready for when it does hit your area.

Here is the thread that introduces 4G bolt on free to contract customers.

Hello @Anonymous and Welcome to the Community Forum

As O2 do not advertise where and when launches will happen in advance I can only suggest you keep checking the online 4g cities link, register for updates using the link in Bambinos post and keep checking the Service Status checker.

In the interim to receive 4G you will need a 4G compliant phone, a 4G SIM card (it will say 4G on it) and a 4G Tariff.

A 4G tariff will work just fine on 3G and if and when you commute into a 4G area your connection would change to 4G thus enjoying those speeds whilst you are there.

The last City announcement does seem a long time ago. I've more or less given up now on 4G in Bolton and will be going with EE. Not because I particularly need 4G speeds at the moment, I don't stream much whilst out unless I'm stranded in the pub, but because despite O2 having to cover 98% of the population by the year dot, information is withheld from the masses and we are treated just like the proverbial mushrooms.
