Hi there I arrived in Turkey on 15 October 2022 and was immediately told I’d been charged £45 despite only sending a text home. I need this charge cancelled due to the cost of living. How do I go about this? The online chat is no help and I can never connect to an agent as none are available

Turkey is not in EU so there is a charge for all texts, calls and data.
It will be data use that has created the large bill.

Depending on what phone you have @Craigieboy73 it could also be the phone sending messages that you aren't aware of.
iPhones register for iMessage, Visual Voicemail and FaceTime in the background and some Androids do a similar thing with Google Chat/Messages...
To avoid this, put your phone into Airplane mode and then only turn on WiFi if/when there is WiFi you want to connect to.
Please note, this is not customer services and we cannot access your account. Do not publish personal details (email, phone number, bank account).

It would take a lot of texts to work up a £45 bill, whereas data at £7.20 per mb wouldn't take very long at all.
CALLS | £2/MIN |
TEXTS | 50P/TEXT |
DATA | £7.20/MB |
