What generally happens is that you go into arrears and the phone is barred and unusable. If you cannot pay you need to call customer service and ask to speak to the payment management team and they help you with a payment plan. You really don't want to have the collection company knocking on your door.

The one you don't pay will be cut off and after a couple of months O2 will sell the debt to a collection agency.
You'd be well advised to call the payment management team on 202 and at least set up a small monthly payment.
The phone will still be cut off but at least you won't be hounded by debt agencies.
I have no affiliation whatsoever with O2 or any subsidiary companies. Comments posted are entirely of my own opinion. This is not Customer Service so we are unable to help with account specific issues.

@Benlfc1990 Apart from the horrors already mentioned, this will impact your credit rating negatively, which can take years to remove. Call customer service as soon as you can to try to find a resolution.
