02 losing a customer of 10 years+

Im not sure what restraining order 02 have currently got held over them, but they are just about to lose a customer of 10 years+ because of it.

From a comparatively small (but award winning) online setup I can get an iPhone6 64GB for free with unlimited mins and texts and 1GB data for £38 per month.

02 cant get ANYWHERE near that! And just answer with a flat "we cant give discount on the iphone 6 at the moment".

02 are £10 per month more expensive and still want circa £99 upfront on top!

How can one of the UK's leading mobile companies be SO far of the competition on price?

They need to re-consider the deal they've done with Apple or whatever else it is holding them back.

I'd love to stay, but 02 has just lost a long standing and loyal customer.

PAC code requested!

The reality is that every company has its price points. O2 will have a budget / profitability matrix that they work to.

O2 know they will lose some customers and gain others. That is business.

At £38 per month with a free handset, the profit margin might be so small that o2 feel it isn't worth it for them.

After all there is no point in being busy fools. It is profitability they are after.

This is why I always buy my handsets off-network - simple pricing, no bloatware, no network lock, the list goes on...

Why do people try continually justify Apple and their pricing? I've seen  some rubbish spouted on here from the Apple heads....

I'm not justifying anybody's pricing.  Anybody who is intellegent enough to use a smartphone is presumably intellegent enough to search out the best price/offer for their own needs.

Sadly that is not the case. There are so many options and offers out there and it can be a minefield.

Some tariffs include things like free voicemail, others may give cash back or so called gifts such as a play station, some give minutes and/or texts and/or data, some have upfront handset costs, and of course there is refresh. Add in networks and mvno's and there is much that can confuse.

Then add the t&c's which can run to pages. .....

Apple in my opinion are poor value compared to top end Samsung for example plus you end up being locked into an ecosystem. (Some may say android is no different).

But never the less over priced and not value for money is my view. Others will disagree.

Sorry, but would that be the good customer service I've been experiencing tonight? Being on hold endlessly and cut off three times, the last after a wait of 30 minutes.

@Anonymous you may remember that I explained to you why some iPhones are cheaper on refresh than directly from Apple themselves

I normally can get a good deal. After reading about 02 and their CS going downhill i am begining to wonder.

Hi @Poppysmum

Are you planning to go sim free again? If so you could either call CS and see what deals they may offer, or go into store and see what the offers are or if you aren't able to get through our the deals aren't good enough them pop into Carphone Warehouse and see what sim only deals they can offer you on o2.

You could also consider tescomobile who run on the o2 network

Please let us know how you get on.

Every customer will be looked at individually and some (depending on length of time and monthly spend) get some decent offers to stay.
I had £150 account credit to renew on a sim only account and I've heard of others being offered the same too.
I have no affiliation whatsoever with O2 or any subsidiary companies. Comments posted are entirely of my own opinion. This is not Customer Service so we are unable to help with account specific issues.
