VAT receipt

I've just bought a tablet for work and the receipt does not show the VAT. I asked the sales assistant, they didn't know, phoned their manager who told them that the VAT number at the top of the receipt was the breakdown.

I know from previous experience with my account that the amount of VAT paid needs to be shown on the receipt for it to be claimed. Can anyone tell me how to get a VAT receipt for my purchase.

Do you have other O2 products active with a working MyO2 account, @Little_Duck? If so, look in My Orders in your MyO2. You can download and save as a PDF then print it off.

From memory, my last receipt for a purchase, a handset purchased outright, showed the subtotal, the VAT, and had a VAT number beneath the store address on the (long!) till receipt.

I don't have an O2 account, I've paid for it in the shop and just got a basic receipt

I was expecting the type of receipt you mentioned and got one with the total but no VAT breakdown, I asked for a VAT receipt and was told that the VAT number was the breakdown!

This is a contract renewal receipt, but it contains vat number up above, and if the value shown includes vat, the vat amount can be calculated:

And there are many online calculators that will let you separate out the vat at 20% from the gross amount on your receipt, @Little_Duck
