Tariff Change

I received an email today which says "Your 02 Tariff change is all sorted.  You are now on;  02 Sim only Unlimited 12M 15GB.  I did not request a tariff change and I am on Classis pay as you go at present.  It gives a reference number and links to check terms and conditions and more info at My O2 www.o2.co.uk/myo2.  Am wondering if anyone else has received an email similar to this and whether it is a scam or not?  I cannot believe o2 would change ones tariff without it having been requested?

It isn't a scam, but is an obvious mistake

You need to call O2 then choose any of the options, fraud etc
Everything is taking longer due to the lockdown. Call centres and social distancing means limited staff to handle all the queries. Patience needed I'm afraid.

You need to call customer service
Advice from an O2 Guru to get through:
If you call 202, when it comes to the reason you are calling stay silent for 15 seconds and you will be taken to the keypad options.
Press 2 for Everything Else
Press 5 for More Options
Press 7 for Anything Else which will put you though to someone.
Choose the fraud option if necessary
