O2 Steals my PAYG Credit!

I had to call O2 today to reconnect my O2 number I keep for emergency use in the car since I haven't made a call for few weeks. The phone was reconnected OK but O2 have reduced my credit to zero. This is normally called theft. I'll be calling O2 to reinstate the credit. O2 should send a message to a user's  registered  email address reminding users that they need to make a call to keep their number active.

Classic Pay as You Go is a legacy product, @sc489 - the Ts&cs have been archived because of that - despite the fact many of the product are still in circulation.

The current offerings are either Rolling Plans or Big Bundles:

It took all of 2 minutes to find on the terms and conditions page:

To be honest your on PAYG just go and buy a new sim card from EE, Voda, 1p Mobile, and just move on...  Is it really worth this hassle for a few quid of credit...

Those T&Cs make no mention of being disconnected if you don't top up every 6 months as mentioned elsewhere on the O2 web site and 'chargeable activity is not defined. Some posting here say you have to make a phone call and a text message doesn't count.

@sc489 In the final analysis this is a customer to customer forum and not O2.

Some of the members have been on here for some time and they report what they have seen 

You are on a traditional PAYG plan which is now defunct but which O2 in their infinite wisdom have allowed to continue. Other networks in closing traditional PAYG simply informed their customers the plans were closing and gave them the option of taking out a different tariff or leaving.

Take it as far as you like with O2 but remember they do have the right to terminate your plan at any time and may well do in the future. 

 

This is not O2 and we are all customers here similar to yourself and cannot answer account type queries.

Our Rights to Bar or Disconnect Your Mobile Phone

  • 7.1. If you do not carry out any chargeable activity at least once in any 6 month period your Mobile Phone will be disconnected and you will lose any remaining credits balance on your Account. If you wish to be re-connected after this time you will be given a new Mobile Phone number.
