Customer service refusing to give PAC code

I recently purchased an O2 PAYG sim which I haven't topped up yet. I want to move my number back to a different provider, but can't get the PAC code. Texting 65075 is not working and going through MyO2 has led to an error message that recommends me calling customer service.

After being on the phone with them for a while, customer service refused to provide the PAC on the grounds that "I need to wait a minimum of 2 months on a new account to get a PAC code". I am under the impression that it is my legal right to get one, regardless of how long I've had the account.

Is there any advice for what next steps to take?

Yes, you don't have to wait 2 months. Usual garbage fro CS

Assumed you did a PAC in from elsewhere.

Probably down to it not being topped up and the system says no

This is not O2 and we are all customers here similar to yourself and cannot answer account type queries.

@chdibbles

Just to be clear there is no legal right to a PAC code, but there is a provision from the rules that say you should be given one upon request, however if you have never topped up or used the service o2 are within there rights not to give you a PAC code, as the account is not really active until you top up..

Just top up and be done with it.

I've now topped up and tried again - still no luck with the text request or MyO2.

Will have to try calling them again... Hopefully they'll be able to do something this time.

Great question!

I was on ID pay monthly rolling contract and bought a new phone through a third party seller, also on ID.

ID refused to match that offer and also told me it's impossible to switch numbers from one ID sim to another. My solution was therefore to buy this O2 sim as an intermediary to transfer my number PAC to PAC (pun intended)

@chdibbles You need to give it time for the payment to clear.

Credit should be instant on PAYG.

Does your MyO2 show sim as active?
