Can’t receive or call from abroad

I’m in Italy. I activated my SIM card and by topping up with £10 but for some reason I’m unable to receive or make calls to the UK. Can you please help me with this?

The only chance you have is to switch your phone to 2g.

Italy has no 3g and O2 PAYG phones only work on 2g or 3g for calls.

Try WhatsApp or Messenger if the person you are calling has those apps too.

European roaming on O2 PAYG is a bit of a catastrophe at the moment

There are one or two PAYG type network that do European Roaming allowing 4G Calling

This is not O2 and we are all customers here similar to yourself and cannot answer account type queries.
