o2 connection manager and touchpad issues

Anonymous
Not applicable
Hi all,

I have a Samsung N140 running windows 7 and an o2 mobile broadband dongle.

When using the dongle and o2 connection manager to connect to the 3g network the touchpad becomes unusable. I have tried reinstalling both the connection manager and touchpad and reinstalling in various orders but it is still a nightmare.

I can kill off one of the touchpad apps in process manager (the bit which supports the scroll bar part of the touchpad etc) and it is better for a while but seems to get worse again.

Has anyone else had similar issues?

Cheers for the help.

Hi,

Thanks for the response. I tried this last night and it hasn't helped at all.

It is almost like when I am connected to the broadband via the dongle the ctrl key is being held down and I can't do anything to make the pc release it.

I think I will either ask at an O2 shop to try a different dongle or will cancel my broadband contract. Since this is unusable I can't see that O2 are fulfilling their end of contract which more or less constitutes a breach of it.

Cheers,
James

This is beginning to sound as if there may be a Windows fault here, I would try running System File Checker as here:

Everything about this windows installation works perfectly well.

It works fine with all wifi connections, it also works fine when I tether it to my mobile phone (not an O2 mobile)! which would suggest this is a driver issue with this particular broadband modem, not windows.

Well there have been some strange issues with these but this is the first pc malfunction I have seen here.

Sorry I have run out of ideas but as you say it could be the driver.

Please post back if you find a solution.
