Some services not working after number change

Hi everyone,

requested a number change last Sunday (4 days ago) which went through all fine. New number works and makes and takes calls. However there are some problems:

1) iMessage just won’t activate (believe me I’ve done everything under the sun but it seems after speaking with o2 it is in fact a network issue)

2) sometimes I don’t receive authentication codes sent by sms and sometimes I can’t send sms to certain numbers.

anyway I have spoken with o2 and this has been raised to the relevant department. Quoted a “call within 3 days”

how realistic is this? Since I have given this new number to everyone I know and I cannot use iMessage it is very frustrating as it was/is the service I used most to contact family/friends.

has anyone had experience with this team? Is there a way for this to get sorted more quickly?

many thanks

@Apple5

Have you checked the correct number is shown in Settings >Phone >My Number?

I have no affiliation whatsoever with O2 or any subsidiary companies. Comments posted are entirely of my own opinion. This is not Customer Service so we are unable to help with account specific issues.

Might be worth asking o2 for a blank sim so you can swap your number to it in case that helps @Apple5.

Another user managed to get the settings>phone>my number correct by turning the phone on once the sim was removed.

Please note, this is not customer services and we cannot access your account. Do not publish personal details (email, phone number, bank account).
