Few questions with regards to refurbished handsets.

First, what is the usual reason why a handset has been refurbed and made available for resale

Secondly, Is it best to buy on-line, or will there be different modls available instore, and is the warranty "as new"
Regards...

That was quick ! Cheers for that. I thought it may have been the cooling off thing....Just concerned that a handset I buy may have been returned due to a manufacturers inherient fault ...but that may happen with new. Thanks again

Hi @DazzyBox and Welcome to The forum.

Typically a refurbished is a handset with a new casing fitted, or a brand new phone sent back to O2 within a cooling off period ,were the person changed their mind.

They have been tested , wiped of any user data and firmware updated to the newest available.

I've never seen a refurbished model in any O2 shop to purchase , as they sell new phones.

Therefore you'd be best checking online and possibly enjoy the cheaper prices / deals attached to them.

Edit: Ref Warranty. This would typically be applied by the business selling the phone, so check any small print and or clarify with them before purchase.

As an example on o2's Shop.

"What is a refurb?

It's a used phone that's been restored to its original state, so it's as good as new. The phone's user guide is available on the manufacturer's website. View our refurbished phone terms and conditions. Comes with a 12 month warranty."

You're Welcome DazzyBox

All handsets would go through a bank of tests before being released for resale , plus as they typically have Warranty you should be fine. 😄

O2 refurbished phones have 3 months warranty or the balance of manufacturers warranty, whichever is the longest.

@Toby @Anonymous

Can you take a look at this.

On the 02 Shop site it says "What is a refurb?

It's a used phone that's been restored to its original state, so it's as good as new. The phone's user guide is available on the manufacturer's website. View our refurbished phone terms and conditions. Comes with a 12 month warranty."

But here -> https://www.o2.co.uk/upgrade/static//desktop/questions-and-answers.html it says "Refurbished phones

What is a refurbished phone?

It's a used phone that's been restored to its original state, so it's as good as new. You'll receive a phone, battery and charger. You can start using it straight away! View our refurbished phone terms and conditions. Comes with a 3 month warranty.

So is it 12 months or 3 months Warranty ??

We've always understood it to be 3 months or remaining manufacturers warranty as it's O2 supplying the warranty. Clarification would be good.
