I've just bought an o2 mobile hotspot device which I've set up on my kindle & my mobile without any problems but I'm struggling to get it to work on the laptop. I've connected the device to my laptop & installed the drivers and it is showing as being connected wirelessly to both local & internet BUT when I try to use the internet every page I try says I'm working offline and I need to connect but when I try to do this is still doesn't work and continues to tell me I'm offline despite the connection status saying i'm connected with an excellent signal strength. Can anyone help please? I'm not good with technical issues or techinal wording though so please be patient. I'm currently connected with my old dongle but I don't want to pay for a dongle & wifi.

It could be an incompatibility, try removing the software and see if it works then.

What drivers are these, I wouldn't have thought it should need any as your laptop is just another wireless device?
Are you sure you're connected to the Hotspot device and not a local wi-fi hotspot?

Yes I've tried restarting both the laptop and the wireless device plus disconnecting and reconnecting to the network. None of those attempts worked. Thank you for your suggestions though.

Yes it definitely shows as being connected to my mobile hotspot. The drivers are built into the device but if you connect it to a laptop/PC with a USB cable then it installs the drivers onto the laptop and a shortcut onto the desktop. If I click that shortcut it tries to take me to http://o2.mobilewifi/ but that then goes straight to Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage even when I'm connected to a working dongle. I've tried searching the web for help but I can't find anything helpful so far.
