They knew I have an O2 account, and I only joined recently... ergo... O2 / Virgin have either had a data breach, or it's an inside job.

They will be so called trusted partners but more commonly known as scammers.
Block the number and ignore them.
You can forward the number to 7726 for O2 to investigate.

@ pgn - also thx, I had those options that you show disabled already, but the four other options for "best way to contact you" were all ticked, yet I would never agree to anything like that, so it's a bit naughty and cheeky of O2 / Virgin to auto assume that I would have agreed. Anyway, now un-ticked. Notwithstanding that, I cannot see how those four options would have anyway led to a scammer call offering me 40% discount.
So, what I still don't understrand, and probably never will, is how they knew that I have an O2 account.
It can only be data breach or an inside job.
It doesn't inspire me with much confidence.
