On the O2 website it states that most phone manufacturers provide 2 year warranty. I know this always applied to all the Nokias I had in the past, during the period of the contract they were always repaired FOC.

Does this 2 year warranty also apply to the z10 I have on 2 year contract with O2?

I thought it was only Apple that dodged the warranty regulations

Most manufacturers of any product will offer a 12 month warranty period. However, consumer law in the EU and the UK goes a bit further than this. The EU law says that any product purchased in an EU country will be covered for two years irrespective of what the manufacturer offers. The UK consumer law is less clear cut in that you have to prove that the product has not lasted a reasonable time before becoming faulty. You can make a claim under UK law up to five years from purchase. Some companies have included the EU 2 year warranty in their product literature others have not. You will find many cases on the internet where faulty products have been returned to the place of purchase after the manufacturers 12 month warranty has expired and after some wrangling the retailer has conceded that the product is covered under EU law and therefore the consumer is entitled to a free repair or replacement.
