Tethering - Blackberry Bold 9700

For over a year I have been able to tether the bold 9700 to my laptop. I have now been informed by O2 that tethering for the aforementioned device is no longer supported. Can anyone provide a reason why when a list of other Blackbery models (see below) are supported?

9360, 9380, 9790, 9810, 9900, 9320

Not supported is a bit vague, not necessarily the same as not allowed.

Tried to tether to my laptop with my Daughter's 9700 and it works fine.....

what settings did you use for the Internet connection? The bb desktop software asks for a profile.

I don't recall doing anything in particular. I just plugged it in and it connected (Win 7). I'll try it again over the weekend and see what it asks for.....
