Top Gear: The future?

Unless you have been in a news free zone for 24 hrs it wont have gone unnoticed that Top Gear presenter Jeremy Clarkson has been suspended...

Allegedly he punched a producer....

Sundays episode has been shelved along with the remaining two in the Top Gear series..

Clarksons suspension has led to a massive petition for his reinstatement.

Personally, I wonder why so many want him back? Surely this massively popular show can survive without him? (Stands back ready to be panned for that comment )

Maybe this 'hero worship' of Clarkson is a 'man thing'? (apologies if that appears sexist )

I don't particularly like him. I think he arrogantly believes he is invincible....

True...but I liked the old image...but didnt watch because of Clarkson....Round and round in circles

It was a missed opportunity to revive a tired old format, and try to win over fans of Clarkson and co, if not attract a new audience. I haven't seen it myself, but according to this report, the BBC Three spin-off Extra Gear is attracting better reviews than the main show. Maybe that's the future of Top Gear

I thought it was a better episode than the last one and they did a nice 4x4 feature for the new Jaguar F-PACE (which I now want)

No, I've not watched either of the two so far although I have watched the BBC3 spin-off which I thought was quite good.
I dislike the Chris Evans style so the new Top Gear has no attraction for me.

I have just read this - to be honest, Evans seems to lack the sparkle and wit that LeBlanc has, same for Eddie Jordan. We'll see how this pans... probably about the same as the Brexit thing.
