Blue Ribband original choccy bic to hand
checking on my cat Marvellous Marty the Magnificent = beside me in his pet-bed under the wooden desk
on which new basic desktop printer will be put = on or around next payday ..... I mean upon the wooden desk not upon the cat
kicked my old basic Epson printer in frustration many many months ago
therapeutic for me for about 3 nano-seconds but really, really bad for the printer
well, let's see if there are many takers for my initial entry into the off-top unofficial world of 'the lounge area'

@Anonymous Even I can deduce from your comment that we are exactly the same age
All of my learning and qualifications have been gained since I left school and went into Nursing age 15 as a
cadet.
I went on to get further nursing/teaching qualifications and diplomas whilst doing a full time nursing job.
My prime reason for undertaking a degree at 50 was to prove to myself I could do it
Mind you...it was a good job I did, as by this time Nursing and Management became very competitive in its
aim to get to the top tiers.
I am a great advocate of education but still maintain you don't actually need a degree to be a damn good
nurse....
I shall now step down from my soapbox

@Cleoriff Well done - and I could not agree more with you as regards what it takes to be a good nurse. Nursing used to be a vocation - I am not sure that it is nowadays. Like so many things in life self-aggrandisement is the big motivator even in the "caring" professions. One does not need to look very far in the NHS and other Public Services to see evidence of that.
One thing that really bugs me is the widespread notion that the PURPOSE of education is to enable people to get highly paid jobs. Why is it that the people who do the really important and essential jobs in our society are amongst the lowest paid?

Well I think we can all tell what the weather has been like today...
The forum has been deserted.
We have had friends and family round...plenty of food, drink and good company. Made even more glorious
by being out in the garden enjoying brilliant sunshine
No S.A.D.day for Cleo today....

Quaffing? Now there's a word I don't hear too often. According to WordWeb it means "To swallow hurriedly, greedily or in one draught" - I guess you must have been quite thirsty @Anonymous
