With the closure of O2's on-line SMS web page some years ago, and the subsequent shuttering of the TuGo app some years later, many are left looking for ways to send SMS messages from their desktop or laptop/tablet without having to resort to WhatsApp or Google Chat/Talk apps.

This article I spotted today might help, 5 such products are reviewed, although admittedly from a US perspective - so your mileage may vary.

Not sure if this is elsewhere here on the Community Forum already, I am sure it will be put in its proper place if so.

Here's the full URL if the embedded link above gives any bother:

There are two very good messaging apps that are free and by installing and linking on both pc and mobile your texts are synchronised acros your devices. These allow you to receive and send texts on your pc or laptop from your tariff allowance.

There are probably others out there but I can vouch for both of these.

Mightytext I use for my O2 account and mysms for my EE account. You get texts displayed on your PC and can reply to them or send texts to anyone using your allowances. You also get call notifications but can't call out from your PC unless you upgrade to a subscription.

With Mightytext you can get any photo you take automatically uploaded and displayed n your PC.
