Hi everyone,

Newspapers, apps, websites, TV ... information is very readily available these days, but I'm sure we all have different habits and ways of getting it.

Do you check the news everyday, and if so what's your favourite way to do so? Do you have any apps or website you like to check, and even gets notifications from? Or are you subscribed to a newspaper or magazine that you read regularly?

I only really read the Time Out magazine handed out at tube stations on Tuesdays, and otherwise check news on various websites throughout the day to get different perspectives and stories.

What about you? nerd

I have a mixture of both @EmilieT

3 x a week I have a newspaper delivered. I use the TV guide on the Saturday delivery.

I also use BBC and Sky News from their apps.

I have a few motor sport news apps as well.  ie F1, Autosport, Motorsport, Sky F1 Sports, GP Fans etc...

I haven't had a paper for years and until coming back to the UK I just caught up online with BBC news. The only time I read a paper is either the pub's paper or whilst waiting for a haircut..I do have a TV mag every week though.

Hi @EmilieT

There's no question I use my phone for regular news

I also get BBC iplayer live on my computer,  for the latest news

My computer also provides news notifications

I have a news app installed with the phone and love it.

I also check any particularly interesting news on the web via my phone

I also have the weather app installed !  Very important.

I never buy a newspaper.

Not read a paper in years either and use above mentioned ways. If I want info on a particular news I sometimes find Facebook search useful because then you get links to various sources (bbc, Sky, mail, etc) and can compare / filter through to get certain facts. Obviously have to be able to spot the fake news too 🙄

Haven't bought a newpaper for goodness how many years. All of them of peddlers of trash these days so only worth passing front and back page as thats all you need to know!

Online its a variety of devices from phone to tablet to computer or laptop via a browser. For stuff I'll read later i.e less important, I've got Feedly set up on the phone and read those usually early morning.

Just to add, I subscribe to a couple of print mags as well: MagPi (for Raspberry PI) & HackSpace (shoving electronics into everyday stuff!).

I also haven't read a newspaper in many, many years.

I get news flashes on my phone. Check BBC News and Sky News on TV and on line regularly and also watch Question Time to get reactions both from the public and MPs on the latest news from Westminster, etc.

I used to get Radio Times for the TV listings but when I found myself checking my TV's EPG rather than the Radio Times, I cancelled the subscription. Now I check my TV EPG for what's on daily and a week in advance to see if there's a programme (series or one off) or film I want to record.

Yet again I'm the dinosaur buying newspapers (three times a week)

However, in my defence, my other half likes to read the paper, do the crossword and it often disappears upstairs with him when he goes to the 'bathroom'...joy

I love reading the news on my mobile. I do also like the idea of reading an actual newspaper, which I used to do, for example every time I commute I'm tempted to take a paper. But I end up not to, and just use my news apps instead. It's easier and quicker. I use the BBC app, the iNews app which collects from different sources, and sometimes a news app from my home country when I feel like I'm out of the loop on what's happening in Finland.

It's interesting to see that most of you aren't reading physical newspapers anymore! 🗞

@Cleoriff

Do you always get the same newspaper delivered or are you mixing things up every now and then? I think the crossword and sudoku would be the best reason for me to grab a newspaper if I get the chance smiling

@jonsie

Now that you mention it, the last time I read a proper newspaper was probably while waiting for a haircut as well. joy I've not seen the inside of a TV mag in ages, is it exclusively about TV shedule or are there a few bits and pieces of news here and there as well?

@TallTrees

The weather app is one of my most used ones as well, along with the BBC news app! Which news app do you use at the moment?

@mahj

Social media is great to spot news but as you said it needs to be taken with a pinch of salt ... I find it interesting to see the different articles and perspectives people share on certain news though slight_smile

@sheepdog

Those magazines are very specialised! I used to read some magazines on movies but haven't in years now. Out of curiosity, what do you do with your Raspberry PIs? I've heard of a lot of cool uses but there's almost more to learn wink

@Glory1

That's a lot of different sources, great to stay in the loop at all times! nerd

@Marjo

You mentioning you sometimes check Finnish news made me realise I almost never check French ones ... oops sweat_smile
