@adamtemp64 My thanks are added to everyone elses.
A great pity that Ebay didn't give its members the same 'heads up' as quickly! My other half uses Ebay a
lot for his business/hobby....
This cyber-attack happened late February....an email of warning to all members would have been appreciated
It may be a case of 'shutting the stable door after the horse has bolted' for some Ebay users

@Cleoriff The problem might be that they didn't know about the unauthorised access until 2 weeks ago. They would then needed to have determined what information may have been taken. This is harder to do when the accounts used were authorised users, if it had been an external hack of systems they would have known about it sooner
I know that Target in the states suffered the same problem fairly recently and took just as long to inform their users of the attack.
Thanks @adamtemp64 for keeping the community informed!

Yes @Anonymous ...that's exactly what my husband said.
My reply (as usual) was 'its a good job no-one was waiting for CPR then'....
I usually swing that expression out at every opportunity...

Hi,
I watched BBC news this a.m and the business section did a piece on the latest re Ebay.
The hackers took Names, encrypted passwords, and email addresses.
More private info was also taken ...customer addresses, phone numbers and dates of birth.
Ebay stated
No financial information was on the hacked database and Paypal was not compromised
The BBC interviewed a UK online data security expert who said Ebay customers should be VERY worried
about this hacking as it could lead to ID theft and seller reputations being wrecked.
Change of passwords is imperative.....
However, apparently UK customers are experiencing great difficulty accessing Ebay today as the system is
facing an internet overload...

when you access ebay this morning there is a banner leading to a letter telling you all about it and to change password (did mine yesterday)
