"Apple responds to iPhone 6 Plus bending issue; says it’s ‘extremely rare’ in normal use"

Statement from Apple

"Our iPhones are designed, engineered and manufactured to be both beautiful and sturdy. iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus feature a precision engineered unibody enclosure constructed from machining a custom grade of 6000 series anodized aluminum, which is tempered for extra strength. They also feature stainless steel and titanium inserts to reinforce high stress locations and use the strongest glass in the smartphone industry. We chose these high-quality materials and construction very carefully for their strength and durability. We also perform rigorous tests throughout the entire development cycle including 3-point bending, pressure point cycling, sit, torsion, and user studies. iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus meet or exceed all of our high quality standards to endure everyday, real life use.

With normal use a bend in iPhone is extremely rare and through our first six days of sale, a total of nine customers have contacted Apple with a bent iPhone 6 Plus. As with any Apple product, if you have questions please contact Apple."

You go in most stores to try the demos and some bright sparks think it's hilarious to set up pattern locks on them. That's been my recent experience anyway!

The normal practice for display phones is that they run in "Demo Mode" so that numpty's can't do stuff like that, although I have seen some myself that have been locked out or seriously messed about with.....

I remember some O2 stores years back had to lock out the Internet on the iPhone's because some found it funny to access let's say naughty sites and use the pictures as lock screens and wallpapers.

The funniest I've come across is quite a few years back. In the old days you could jailbreak an iPhone on the phone itself. Some people were going into Apple Stores and doing that , adding tweaks and then calling the Apple Store Reps over for fake assistance and watched the look on the reps faces as they were stuck !

This is why Android introduced Guest mode which won't allow certain functions. Well one of them anyway....

Indubitably true. Samsung S21 Ultra and Xiaomi 14 Ultra
