Carrie - I love stollen cos I'm addicted to marzipan. At easter, I love simnel cake - a fruit cake with marzipan baked into it - in a layer through the middle of it - and then topped with another layer of marzipan which is then grilled - yum-yum

Hehe you would love "Marzipan-Kartoffeln" (Kartoffel = potato)... Here's everything full of it :S
I didnt knew that the tree is a German thing. Guess we have some good ideas
I soooo loved the british "Kitsch" when I was in London last month. Got some awesome ornaments.
So you had a Santa/green "Santa" before? Here it was the "Christkind" (which should be Jesus, but is shown as girl... Always wondered about that as a child)
Thought about Stollen - Mince pie when I saw some at the backery this afternoon... Is mince pie really with mince (which I translate as the same as mint), or just a name... Or isnt mince not the same as mint?

It comes from mince - as in "haken" - rather than the herb "mint". "Mincemeat" has become a word in it's own right - and avoids confusion with "minced meat" - as in "hackfleisch"
