Hi guys,

Over my time here, I've seen many mentions of good books and blogs that you have read.

This made me think that a healthy discussion might be a good idea, where we can all share our favourite reads and recommend them to others.

So, what books have you loved?

I have just finished reading 'The Psychopath Test' by Jon Ronson. Funny, well written and makes you think slight_smile

I'll ready anything, I'd read the back of a ketchup bottle if it was the only thing available.

My current phase is post apocalyptic or dystopian novels. I've read some brilliant unknown work by getting free books on my Kindle such as the Yesterdays Gone series by Sean Platt and David Wright.

I've decided to read some of the classics that I've never got round to reading. I'm currently reading Lord of the Flies, kinda wish I'd read it in school to be honest, it's hard to follow if I'm not paying attention. War of the Worlds is next!

By Cormac McCarthy? Yes, but I've seen the film as well so both have kind of merged with each other.

I get a lot of free books from a blog http://www.fkbooksandtips.com/ for my Kindle and I've discovered a lot of fab writers through that site.

An obvious one, but I've read the Lord of the Rings trilogy...appendices and all haha. There is a LOT of information in them. I think Peter Jackson did a sterling job of adapting the story and definitely picked the right aspects to focus on in my view slight_smile

Has anyone ever read Artemis Fowl stories?

I read almost all Tolkein back in the 70's including 'Silmarilliion' and 'Farmer Giles of Ham'

I've got Artemis Fowl in ebook format but haven't got round to reading them.

Terry Pratchett and Douglas Adams are personal favourites.

I've wanted to read some of Terry Pratchett's books.

I like some non-fiction books as well, ones where I learn little tidbits of information, like Bill Brysons'.

I like the audio versions of Bryson's books especially when he reads them himself. Spent many an hour listening whilst driving around to his 'Notes ' series and more.

The Fifth Elephant is easily in my top 5 books. Terry Pratchett is just such a good author.

I recently read a book by Gregg Hurwitz called You're Next. Brilliant book with a twist.

I think I've read that one @Cleoriff it was great slight_smile

I'm so tempted to start Game of Thrones, but I'm watching the series and feel I may be ruining it for myself somewhat! Has anyone read it and would recommend? No spoilers please wink

I loved the books for GOT! They can be hard going, especially if you struggle to keep up with a lot of characters and I've known a few people give up on them. They do stick fairly close to the programme though (but when they don't, they really really don't lol) so it helps you keep track if you've watched it first.

I read the whole series of 'Jack Reacher' books by Lee Child whilst in Thailand.

Usually my reading tastes are good murder and mystery books such as James Patterson, Karin Slaughter (now that's a good name for a murder authoress1), Dean Koontz, Karlan Coben and the likes.

Loved the Millenium trilogy by Steig Larsson and currently reading Joe Nesbo books.

Excellent taste Jonsie!  I haven't read the Jack Reacher books but no doubt I'll get around to them one day.  I might have to download the Millenium trilogy and read it again.

My all time favourite book is 'To Kill a Mockingbird'.  I've just discovered JT Ellison and I also like Linda Fairstein and Kathy Reichs.  I surprised myself by enjoying the Harry Potter books as I really didn't expect to - I don't usually like books that come with a lot of hype.  I sat on the plane home from Orlando sobbing because one of the characters died!
