@Claire33 Did you get a PAC from O2 to move your phone number to your new provider?

If so, this would cancel your O2 account, but there may be charges left to pay on it. If you were paying by Direct Debit, leave it in place until you get a zero bill. If you cancel too early you could cause problems.
If you have any questions, speak to customer service:
Call 0344 809 0202, 0800 902 0217 or 0800 032 1402
When it comes to the reason you are calling, stay silent for 15 seconds and you will be taken to the keypad options.
Press 2 for Everything Else
Press 5 for More Options
Press 7 for Anything Else which will put you though to someone.
Say 'Upgrade', 'Lost/Stolen', or 'Fraud' if the suggestion above doesn't get you through.
Best time to call is 8 am.

Not unless you submitted a STAC, @Claire33 - if contract, Guide: Cancelling Your Contract - if you were PAYG and you did not take your number across with you to the new provider using a PAC, then the number will deactivate after 6month's of no use automatically.
