Why can't O2 make their policies clear about switch-up?

I thought O2 was a big company, may be being run by professionals who can explain their decisions to customers.

In emails being sent by O2 in October, this switch-up rule change to 11 months is being mentioned to be effective from 22nd January 2026, then why O2 made change to new rule on their website/ in plus plan details two months in advance...So customers doing switch-up now will have the documents saying 11 month rule even though changes are becoming effective from January 2026.

I did O2 switch-up in September this year with plus plan,my app was showing 90 days switch-up option but now suddenly started showing 11 months. So what does it mean? Can I switch up after 90 days or has it already been changed to 11 months retrospectively(agreement breach)?

Any information, explanation or have I missed any update?

As a quick search here on the Forum would have informed you, @Osa9595 -

https://community.o2.co.uk/t5/Pay-Monthly/Switch-Up-Changes/m-p/1816591/highlight/true#M291686

And doubtless @madasaf1sh will explain a little later...

As for "I thought O2 was a big company, may be being run by professionals who can explain their decisions to customers.", well - never assume, it only makes an ASS of U and ME.

@Osa9595

No idea, why they have pushed this 2 months earlier, and this will cause all sorts of questions and this seems to a classic case of a **bleep** up, as mine is showing the same, which is against the T&C's and the agreed changes published by o2..

@Dave-O2

What the **bleep** is going on as this is wrong, I have a switch up due on the 29th November and one more if I so choose in February..

Is this right arm not knowing what left arm is doing..

Reply from O2 CS on app

I would like to inform you that the switch-up rule has been changed as of yesterday. From now on, every customer will be able to switch up every 11 months. So if you switched up on the last 22nd of September, you will be able to switch up your device again after 11 months.

No idea how can they do it when agreement states totally opposite.

@Osa9595 It's all in the terms and conditions, which for some reason, nobody ever reads before signing for stuff!

@RichAllen1976 You mean the T&C's that O2 changed unilaterally on the 26th to apply on the 27th ?

This is not O2 and we are all customers here similar to yourself and cannot answer account type queries.
