MyO2 says I must contact O2 to change bank account NAME but the O2 automated help on O2 says I can do it on MyO2.  Circular reference.  Anyone know how to solve this?  The current bank account won't exist next week.

Well you're supposed to login to myO2. If you have the app it may be convenient.

Look for update my payment details. It is possible to update payment details on myO2.

If the problem still exist contact the payment team to help you with this issue

You can change bank details via My O2 but any name change to the contract HAS to be done via customer services.

They are two completely different things.

When you enter bank details they ask for name, sort code and account number. So they don't care who pays for it (like me paying for my sons mobile contract) The contract is in HIS name but the payment comes out of my bank.)

Thanks. I will have to lie to the automated Customer Support system about why I'm calling as otherwise it says "you can change this on MyO2", which is a lie, and then says "Goodbye" and cuts me off.

Every other supplier except O2 has allowed me to change bank account number, sort code and bank account NAME online.  If you are in banking, you will know that it is absurd to allow users to change bank account number and sort code without them also changing bank account NAME (its like saying you can change your address and postcode but not your house number).

Please look at my reply above. It's been edited for clarification.

You can change all of that via My O2.

Thanks but what you say is not true.  The MyO2 page says, quote:

Changing the name of your account

Contact us if you need to change the name of your bank account.

So you can see it clearly states that I cannot change the NAME OF MY BANK ACCOUNT.  It is nothing to do with my O2 account name.

I think we are talking at cross purposes. I know for a fact (having been with O2 for 14 years) that you CAN change bank account details via My O2.

I have done it and so have others.

If My O2 is now stating that you can't then it's a recent change.

See here https://community.o2.co.uk/t5/Pay-Monthly/Change-Bank-Account/m-p/1043354/highlight/true#M126459

and here

How do I change my payment details?
  1. Click here and sign in to My O2.
  2. Click 'Payment Details' from the left hand menu.
  3. Follow the easy step by step instructions.
  4. NOTE: You can't set up a new payment method within My O2 but that you can change your bank details.

Have just tried in the Android version of the app.
You can change the sort code and account number.
There is no option on the app to change the name on the account.
Not sure if the name on the bank account matters when they try and collect payment.

Please note, this is not customer services and we cannot access your account. Do not publish personal details (email, phone number, bank account).

It doesn't @gmarkj  as I have tried to explain. I'm paying for my sons contract. Account is in HIS name. Bank details are in mine.

Yeah didn't think it mattered too much @Cleoriff.
So you just need to change the sort code and account number @chalkyfb.

Please note, this is not customer services and we cannot access your account. Do not publish personal details (email, phone number, bank account).
