o2 called me the other day offering me a new contract which i accepted as i was spending £20 on pay as you go every month - a new contact that blows my current spending away, however, they asked for my card and bank details - over the phone, which i foolishly provided. the deal has gone through and i have spoken to o2 support staff who ensure us that it is a legit deal, however nobody has ensured me that this call that i recieved was scamming us either with the banking bit, i found out my card had been comprimised and cancelled due to a fraud detection. do you think it is coincidence or does o2 really offer contracts this way?

They do use some external agents but I wouldn't suggest using them and you should never give out your banking details over the phone.
I doubt your card has been compromised, probably a temporary suspension while they check the payment was intended.
Only the card provider can help with that.
