I have been ringing o2 stores to check the stock of iphones and one girl I spoke to (who worked at the manchester shop) actually suggested I can go and buy one from apple because they have more stock. I asked her would I then be able to insure it if I went into an o2 shop. At first she said "yeh we can do that, just bring your reciept" but then she seemed to talk to someone (presumably a manager) and then came back and said they wouldnt be able to do that and I would have to buy the phone through the o2 shop.
Having heard her change her mind its confused me a bit. She didnt sound too sure and definate when she was talking about it so its made me nervous to go and buy an Iphone and then not be able to insure it.
Which way is it? Would I be able to take the paperwork I recieve from the apple store and get it insured? Or would o2 turn me down for the insurance because it wasnt bought through them?

If you get it from CPW then you have to take CPW's insurance.

I gave O2 customer service a call. The man simply asked for the new handset's IMEI number and added it to the database.
Good luck!

No its not, you'll find if you ever need to make a claim the insurance underwriters will tell you its invalid. O2 do not insure 3rd party handsets.

With all due respect....
I have an iphone purchased from the carphone warehouse.
the man in carphone warehouse asked me if I wanted insurance.
I declined as I felt £13 was way to high as my contract was £45 per month.
I called o2 within 14 days of purchase.
I added o2 premiere insurance at a cost of £7.50 per month
every month the insurance is taken out the same time as my phone contract
£52.50 pcm
I have only ever made one claim when I lost my phone.
my iphone was replaced within 2 days.
trust me, its fine!
