Carphone Warehouse are trying to get me to stay with them by dangling the N900 in front of me. If it's on O2 then I'll *consider* it, but right now my PAC is burning a hole in my pocket.

After the N97 fiasco, Nokia blocking Operator customisations on the N900 and the new Pre exclusive for O2, I am beginning to wonder if they'll offer Nokia's new device.
Don't think the N900 is without its flaws though. It currently doesn't offer MMS and can't do video calls despite being a 3G device to name 2. I have an N97 but would definitely like to try the N900. Time will tell.

It does have its flaws, like no MMS, but they could well be added later. Some of the things developers are doing for this phone is amazing though, so i am defintely getting this. Just beginning to look like i will have to leave O2 to get it.

When I went into O2 a while back and asked for a smartphone with touchscreen, they immediately offered the iPhone. When I said I didn't want the iPhone, they were unable to offer anything else at the time. I wanted something more than the 5800. They're still a bit restricted on the Nokia side even now. I originally came to O2 several years ago because they were offering the best handsets quickly and at excellent prices. What happened to this philosophy?
I too would like to get my mits on the N900 but I don't want to change networks. I am using my N97 on O2 but it is a SIM-free handset so it was purchased without the network subsidy and I use it on Simplicity. O2 have been superb both in terms of network performance and customer service but their apparent change in philosophy of not offering the new handsets people are after is plain stupid. We've got rid of the iPhone exlusive now Thank god) and I had hoped O2 would have a more exciting approach to handsets but I am now concerned we're going back in circles now the Pre is almost with us. I would definitely consider going back into a contract for 18 months (don't want two years) as long as the monthy tariff charge was reasonable and came with included data which is a necessity for the new generation of phones.
Wake up O2.

It's all very well offering these things, but they aren't always 'that' useful in reality.

This will be m next phone. Its already being offered for free on Vodafone and TMobile, with a £30 contract for 18 months. Put sthe O2 iPhone contract to shame.
It does have its flaws, like no MMS, but they could well be added later. Some of the things developers are doing for this phone is amazing though, so i am defintely getting this. Just beginning to look like i will have to leave O2 to get it.
If you could provide a link to these confirmed prices on an unreleased phone. Though remember, the iphone contract did include free wifi at certain hotspots which is still relatively unique to the iphone on O2.
Hope it sok to postlinks here. I have seen similar deal in a few places to this, but this is the only one i can remember off the top of my head

Agree with mjt, i have loved being with O2. Have 2 contracts running about 5 years each now. Network performance is great and the customer service has always been top class. I have however been thinking of moving both contracts recently due to their lack of good handsets but have held off doing so, but i am moving to the N900 so i will now go if O2 arent providing it.

Orange and Vodafone are getting the iPhone, so its not so exclusive to O2 anymore!
I will wait untill November when the n900 will be available.
