iphone 3gs insurance out of stock

has anyone else been having the same problem as myself?
i successfully made a claim 2 weeks ago after losing my white iphone 3gs and was told the phone was out of stock and would be coming back in to stock soon and they would call me within the week.
a week went by without any calls or notifications so i rang them and after being on hold for 30+minutes i was told they were out of stock still and did not know when they were coming in.
i have continued to call them and been told different stories all the time, some people saying there is a shipment arriving from taiwan soon, and some people saying apple are releasing them slowly from america. i dont know who to believe now and they all say the same we dont know when they are going to arrive.
apple has discontinued the iphone 3gs 16gb which is what i had and you can no longer get from them so i dont see why they will be making more handsets and sending them out if they are discontinued.
can anyone give me any advice on what i should do now as it has been over the 14days which in the t&c say they will replace the phone. i have kept to my side of the contract by always paying and they on this case have not.

Your not alone! I have waited 2 weeks now and I am supposed to be getting a phone call from both customer services and the insurance today but highly doubt I will. I don't know what else I can really do I'm fed up of hearing stories about suspected delivery dates and waiting lists just want a handset as that's what I thought I paid £60 a month for!

hi there any more news on your phone yet? did u ever eventually hear back from anyone? im still being given the run a round but i made another complaint yesterday and said they will call me again either today or tomorrow so im still waiting. latest i was told was that the black 3gs 16gb was not discontinued yet but it clearly has been as cannot get from o2 or apple themselves but they did not have that infromation. getting really annoyed now. my nearest o2 shop is closed for refurb so i cannot get a loan phone so im completely stuck at the mo. grrrrrrrrr ace insurance

Exactly the same problem as me. Outrageous service. I called yesterday to complain and asked them how a business that is based on convincing people they need to be connected at all times with phone and email and internet can just leave someone twisting in the wind when their phone dies (now 2 weeks).
Was given the same excuses that it is the insurers fault and not them (which is also outrageous- if I buy a meal at a restaurant and the pudding makes me ill it is the fault of the restaurant!). Explained to them that they are losing my business and someone was helpful enough to send me a loaner used iPhone 3G until my other one is in stock.
this does not make up for the poor service that o2 insure give, but it shows that there is someone out there at o2 who is willing to do something to keep a customer. This is something that o2 should be doing automatically however!

I also see that the black iPhone 3GS that I am waiting for is listed as 'discontinued' on Carphone Warehouse, and not listed at all on the o2 site or the Apple site. This would lead me to believe that it is in fact discontinued and no longer available. So- will o2 Insure do anything or just keep me in a holding pattern until they decide to replace with the 4 at some point. . .

NEW UPDATE- I just just now been told that they are waiting on refurbished stocks. So they are going to send me a USED iphone????!!!!
1. I clearly remember being sold an insurance policy that promised a NEW phone when something happened to the old one.
2. O2 Insure blatantly mislead me on the phone. Telling me they were waiting on new stocks to come in before they could ship them out.
3. Now waiting for over 2 weeks for my phone. Would not have been so bad if they didnt bar my SIM and then bar the old Sony phone I was using it with. So not been able to use any phone for 72 hours!
Amazing.

Hi i'm having the same issue - smashed the screen on my 3G iPhone 16Gb - Told not in stock and they are having some sent in (never mentioned anything about refurbished phones and has my policy is for a NEW one i don't excepect a refurbished phone) I have been having text updates on stock stating that they are unavailble.
Then today i received this text:
Hi, just a quick update: iPhone 3GS 16GB & 32GB have been discontinued by Apple. We are doing our best & apologise to for any inconvenience. O2 insure
So what happens now? iPhone 4???

I would assume that what happens now is we wait for another few weeks until o2 get some old refurbished iPhone 3GS's to send out. Then you get your new used phone and have to fight with o2 insure over the terms and conditions before just giving up on the whole thing in about a months time.
I can also tell you that I was in the Apple Store last night for a computer issue and it was confirmed to me that there are no more 3GS 16GB iPhones being made or shipped. So if o2 insure says they are waiting on them they are stalling or lying.
