iOS vs Android - let the battle commence!

So....... I don't come here often. But when I do, most know I'm a die hard iOS fanboy.

However, I did something strange yesterday and ordered the OnePlus 3T. From O2 naturally.

Here's the plan. I have 14 days to decide whether to keep the OnePlus 3T or revert back to my trusty iPhone 6s Plus. I am going to turn off my iPhone when I receive the new phone. Save for taking pictures of the new phone.

I'm going to keep a diary on here of my experiences and try to update it everyday.

Is there anything people want to know specifically or things people want me to address during this?

Yep. You've already failed the test lol

Ok. So here is the box. It's a box. Looks like every other box. I'm going to say box one more time. Box.

Inside, the first thing I find is the phone (surprise surprise). Now, considering the price of this phone, I didn't expect it to feel that great in the hand. However, if I dare say it, it felt slightly more premium that the iPhone! 😳

Both the iPhone and OnePlus 3T have a thickness of 7.3mm. The OnePlus feels thinner though. For reasons I can't explain, I like it.

Next, I was in for a surprise. I went to put my SIM in the phone and it is dual SIM! I'll be intrigued to see how this works.

Looking at the others features of the exterior of the phone, I find power and volume buttons where I'm used to them being. And what I presume to be a silence toggle. But it moves twice.......but feels very premium indeed.

Also, I noticed a screen protector is already applied. Nice touch OnePlus.

So my next step is to set up the phone.......stay tuned 👍

Ok. So I've set up my new phone. Nothing special really: Connect to Wifi,  sign into account. Done.

Ofcourse it's not done silly goose! There's something I spotted straight away when setting up the fingerprint scanner.

IMG_0093.PNG

Look at the bottom of the screen. 'Add another.' Are you reading Apple?!! Why can I only register one fingerprint during setup?!!

Anyway, before I get carried away with myself. There's a couple of things I'm going to have to get used to. Hardware buttons and a home button that doesn't move. I did get the option of software buttons but I am going to use the hardware buttons for now.

So as it's late, I won't be going to the other side tonight. There's a couple of things I need to work out before I switch though:

Firstly, I need to move my contacts over. Need to Google how to do that without manually entering the numbers.

As my bank doesn't support Android Pay, I need to set up that app. I use contactless a lot now.

I use iCloud Keychain. How am I supposed to get my passwords across to my new phone?!

My photos should already be on the way over to my new phone thanks to the Google Photos app.

Finally, for now anyway, I need to decide on a new streaming service. I've heard the Apple Music app is pretty shocking on Android so I'm not going to use it. I have a choice of two. Spotify and Amazon Music Unlimited (The two supported by the Amazon echo).

My head hurts.

Install Google contacts on the iPhone and sync.
Then sync on the op3 and your contacts will appear.
Android pay is all good and will take about 3 minutes and 20 seconds to add card
Keychain is ios proprietary and I doubt apple let 3Rd parties in it.
Out of the two music apps, use Spotify as they are updating their catalogue to HD audio so better quality
