Wifi Calling on Pay & Go - working now

My wife asked me what a new icon is on her Pay & Go Motorola phone earlier today.  It is the wifi calling icon and she is on Pay & Go.  We have bad O2 signal here and my contact O2 phone often switches to wifi calling but not hers until now.  She was able to make a call and the display said that it was a wifi call.  Has this been officially launched at last?

It's being rolled out, along with 5G for PAYG, finally, @DS10001

It may come and go as O2 test and bring up the functionality for PAYG, so if you have it, use it is my suggestion - but it may come and go until the formal O2 launch.

Good luck!

Yep. WiFi Calling, 4G Calling and 5G should be in place for all PAYG customers by the end of the year if O2 are to be believed.

This is not O2 and we are all customers here similar to yourself and cannot answer account type queries.

Things are happening in bits and bobs

Just check if it can be switched on in your phone settings

If your wife's handset and SIM card are new enough to support the change, this is what you get,  @GBH1962

O2 Pay As You Go (PAYG) customers will get 4G Calling (VoLTE) and WiFi Calling by the end of 2025.

What You Need:
  1. Compatible Device: A 4G or 5G phone that supports VoLTE.
  2. Latest Software: Ensure your phone has the latest operating system updates.
  3. Newer SIM: You might need a newer O2 SIM card; you can swap for free at an O2 shop.
  4. Enabled in Settings: Once available, you'll enable it in your phone's settings (e.g., Settings > SIM & network > Enable VoLTE).

If those conditions are met, you could try rebooting her handset. Also you can test by swapping your SIM card and her SIM card around between the handsets to test. Good luck!

I just turned wifi calling on in the settings of my iPhone 16. Then put it to airoplne mode then phoned voicemail for a test and it seemed to work. Dose that me wifi calling is now working  for me on pay as you go. I'm on a o2 pay as you go rolling plan.
