This has been mentioned in another thread but deserves a section of its own I think. @MI5 and myself have noticed a changed to Contact Preferences. Initially I had opted out of Marketing info....today we noticed there is a new layout for the page and suddenly mine have been turned on...Advise everyone to check. Mine looks like this...(or did as I have now turned off everything except Priority) @Toby is currently checking when these changes took place..

Apologies for the last of updates but this issue is still being investigated. We will update this thread as soon as there in any new information but obviously I want to make sure I have all the facts before I do so.
A small bit of news however. I can confirm that O2 will not pass on your contact information to any PPI, accident clams companies or any similar 3rd parties. The only calls you will receive as a result of having your 3'rd party marketing preferences on will be related to O2 products and services.
So if O2 customers have suddenly begun receiving calls from PPI and accident claims etc it would indicate that O2's database has been hacked.
Whih O2 dept is involved in the investigation ?

I'm sorry but that's just the kind of rubbish I was expecting - I'd like to know how o2 can explain all the ppi and accident calls I'm getting now then?
Do you not think that the likes of CPW will just sell our numbers to anyone ??

Let's not be too harsh with @Martin-O2 , he's probably only passing on what he's been told to say.
It's the O2 senior management that are taking us for fools.

I'll certainly ask for clarification on the way trusted partners handle customer data. Hopefully the picture will be clearer once we have an update on the preferences issue.

Certainly not happy with this response. Let's take it back to basics....the whole format of My O2 contact preferences was changed......with no warning.. I have no problem with anyone changing anything if it 'benefits user experience'...What I don't accept is someone taking control of my life by deciding what I want to be contacted about. I have had 2 more calls today and quite frankly I am sick of it. I go to Spain shortly and voicemail will be OFF as usual....so am I going to be bombarded with this lot all holiday?? It's no good anyone telling me that 'O2 do not pass my details on'...they quite clearly have...

Open My O2 then click on the 'More' tab then contact preferences
thank you all above, I didn't realise I had this page, I've turned everything to off, not had the increase in spam calls that others have

I emigrate in one week with 6 months left on my contract. The last thing I need is having to switch off voicemail or ignoring spam calls when the cost is £1.50 per part minute. The problem is that trusted partners or O2 have passed our details to these idiots.

That's my concern @jonsie. I go to Spain in a week or so. Over this last week I have been in contact with a number of different agencies to sort out some family issues. 3 weeks ago I had no worries about the calls that in came to my mobile. Now I shall worry that if I dismiss a call thinking it's spam I will miss something important. So I probably need to answer them all. Really sick about this
