Upgrade scam?

Anonymous
Not applicable

Anybody heard of an "authorised representative" of o2, for upgrades, called "3D" based in a call centre in Oldham?

I've received about 7 calls from them over the last 2 weeks reminding me I am due for an upgrade.  I have been due an upgrade for a fair while in fact.  On the first call, they got most of the information about my o2 account wrong, so I just put the phone down.  Of course, I didn't provide them with any account information 😉

One o2 customer service rep agreed it sounded fraudulent, another said they do have a call centre in Oldham so it would be them calling.  Sounds like I should go to confused.com!!

Any comments from the forum?

Next time they call I think I will have some fun...

Thanks

Best advice is to stay away from these sharks and just hang up the phone. Don't waste time talking to them, it's precious time you will never get back.

Just a company trying it on. If they can get you to upgrade they get commission from O2. Won't be anything dodgy but may not be the upgrade route you want to take either.
I have no affiliation whatsoever with O2 or any subsidiary companies. Comments posted are entirely of my own opinion. This is not Customer Service so we are unable to help with account specific issues.

Try flogging them your old phone that's always fun:)

Or my personal favourite tell them you don't have a phone. (Sorts the men from the boys haha)

I couldn't come up with anything via google for 3d. I can only advise to avoid like the plague. I imagine even if legit once you upgrade through them your details will be sold to all sorts of people.
Nothing sucks more than that moment during an argument when you realize you’re wrong. So Ive been told wink
