The iPhone 4 Upgrade Offer

Anonymous
Not applicable
Hi, i know this may have already been posted and answered, for that i apologies.

But basically at the moment im reading mixed reports that o2 are offering the upgrade to all customers still under contact and other reports stating that this offer only applies to those who are under an iPhone contact.

Im hoping the latter is not the case as my contact run out in January and i stated as i knew the iPhone 4 would be coming out in the near future that i would want to get this upon its release. The gentleman who done my upgrade said that this would be fine and basically describe what by the looks of things is the special limited time offer that o2 are going to offer, the only thing is though the upgrade i got, gave me a blackberry as i already had the 3gs.

So to sum up im just wondering if anyone knows of the criteria of this special upgrade? or am i just being inpatient?

Thanks

Lloyd

Whats to stop me just refusing to ever change my plan or upgrade, and just carry one with my £45pm, 1200m, unlimited data plan forever ?

I'd just buy Paygo iPhones and pop my chopped to micro sized sim into them

Possibly this:

"Unlimited data on all smartphone tariffs is a promotion until 1 October 2010. Excessive usage policy and terms apply, see o2.co.uk."

(the smallprint under the tariff chart at http://shop.o2.co.uk/new-iphone/tariffs.html)

just compared 18m £45pm iPhone plans from Vodas' and Orange, O2 with these new plans now have the worst plans, Orange give 400 minutes more, and voda give 250meg more.

I agree that the O2 plan change is outrageous, and I'll be jumping ship with both my contracts the second I see a better offer (and I'm considering 3's MIFI, 5GB/mo for £15/mo, no contract).

But so far nobody else has stepped forward to show their iPhone 4-specific plans. It could turn out worse, but I doubt it, as they're probably playing at high noon...the best deal may well be revealed at the last minute.

Was a bit shocked at first, but this might actually end up SAVING me money grin

I'm currently on a 24 month iPhone 35 plan, and rarely use text messages, never get close to exceeding my call allowance, never send MMS, the only reason I'm on that plan is I had to, to get hold of a 3GS.

If I was expected tp pay off my contract (runs out Dec 2011)so I could upgrade, I'd be looking at almost £650 to pay!
However with the 02 upgrade offer, I can do it for £340, and get out of the 2 year contract.
I'd get a iPhone 4, and easily get the £340 I need to pay them, by selling the old 3gS.
I'd then resign for the cheapest PM package, thus saving £15 a month.

My inital fear was the 500mb limit, but checking my 3GS, I see I've only used 1.5gb of traffic since last Dec.. so 500mb a month will be plenty

I think

May I ask what you do on your iPhone??

I only ever use WI-Fi for things like TV Catchup, and you tube, but I'm always surfing..I thought I used it quite a bit, so was a shock to see how little i actually use

Ok, I know everyone is probably bored of this discussion, but, I have a question.

It would cost me £80 to buy out my contract and my phone would get me about £180 if I sent it to apple (probs a bit more on ebay I expect). That would leave me £100 to spend on the new handset- assuming that's what it'll cost me to get the 32 gig version.

Or I could just wait (I'm not that desperate) until October and upgrade then, saving the £80.

The question is, how much will my 3g 16gig have devalued by then? What are the chances that my phone will be worth anything near that much in October? Anybody have an educated guess?

As it is £20pm left of your contract to pay it off good question would be how much your normal monthly payment will be if you keep it running. If it is £35 a month then moving now might be worth it.
