The iPhone 4 Upgrade Offer

Hi, i know this may have already been posted and answered, for that i apologies.

But basically at the moment im reading mixed reports that o2 are offering the upgrade to all customers still under contact and other reports stating that this offer only applies to those who are under an iPhone contact.

Im hoping the latter is not the case as my contact run out in January and i stated as i knew the iPhone 4 would be coming out in the near future that i would want to get this upon its release. The gentleman who done my upgrade said that this would be fine and basically describe what by the looks of things is the special limited time offer that o2 are going to offer, the only thing is though the upgrade i got, gave me a blackberry as i already had the 3gs.

So to sum up im just wondering if anyone knows of the criteria of this special upgrade? or am i just being inpatient?

So if I see it correctly. They want you to buy your contract out, pay for the handset and go on a tariff that is probably going to be above £35. I got the 3GS iPhone 16GB on a £45 a month for 24 months free but if I wanted the 32GB version then it would be £75 a month for 24 months

Sold the 16GB on eBay, bought a brand new 32GB and made a bit of money and saved myself £600 over the 24 months that O2 wanted me to pay if I wanted the 32GB.

I am going to sell my 32GB and wait until the new iphones start floating around on eBay as "so-called" unwanted upgrades.

It just seems to me that by the end of the 2 year contract it will not be worth the offer O2 are trying to tempt us loyal customers with.

Mine to buy out would be around £400, how much extra for the handset?? What are the tariffs going to be? Are they going to be higher than the current ones??

I am sitting at the sidelines with this expression on my face that someone would have when the dentist is about to pull one their teeth, you just can't tell how much this is going to hurt

Well I have had a good look over the info they have posted and from my understanding. You will have a limit of 500mb more or less from 1st October 2010 depending on your tarrif. They have realised we are benifiting to much from the unlimited data tarrif and will now start charging us to if we go over or give us the option to bolt on more data/surf time for an extra fee. It's all in the details. take a good look folks. If this is the case I will not be upgrading and I will purchase my phone out right whilst keeping my exsisting tarrif which has unlimited data+Wi-Fi

The tiltle does say smart phone, but I beleieve this applies to the iPhone.

No sooner than i said about everyone waiting for the tariff details i get an email from o2 saying the tariff details are out...at a quick glance i don't really understand it but i think what lane282 is a very good idea, except what you will have to remember is that the iPhone 4 takes a micro/mini sim instead of the normal sims most of us have.

you can buy a Sim cutter which will cut your regular sim to a microsim, ive seen them on the web they look like hole punchers for about $25.00

It doesn't require you to change contract as O2 are legally obliged to provide you with a sim card that is appropriate for your device. So they would have to give you a micro sim for free. It doesn't mean your contract changes or anything else, unless you request that or agree to another contract with them

I think it is morally wrong to penalise people for taking out longer contracts! If I'd have known that I would end up paying sooo much money to upgrade my handset I would have chosen the shorter contract option and paid the extra. It would have been cheaper in the long term.

There should be a 12 month upgrade period regardless of contract length.

Am not happy.

just compared 18m £45pm iPhone plans from Vodas' and Orange, O2 with these new plans now have the worst plans, Orange give 400 minutes more, and voda give 250meg more.
