When O2 stopped providing e-mail as a service to their customers, that also created a lot of mayhem where billing for your O2 mobile contract and O2 purchases had been tied to the @o2.co.uk address - even if you had added a "free" non-O2 e-mail address as a secondary:
No thought given by the provider, all too common when the move to new back-end systems is undertaken.

To be honest Virgins Email Service is about as reliable as a chocolate fireguard, and its down more than its up, so anyone relying on it needs to have words with themselves.
And this is why I have my own mail servers and gmail as backup
