Say Goodbye to Unlimited Data Tariffs

Anonymous

Looks like O2 are going to follow AT&T's lead by getting rid of the Unlimited Data tariffs for smartphones and iPhones.

Doesn't even look like they're goig to do an unlimited data bolt on!

This could get very expensive!

Just found this on Which Website

I wonder how many people O2 have that are out of contract but hanging on for the IPhone 4 to be released.
I guess its anyone who bought a 3G on either an 18 or 24 months contract and I suspect thats going to be quite a few.
I'm certainly one of those and my custom will rely heavily on what deal I get offered to stay aswell as what tarriff prices are like etc.

I'm one of those, my contract expired back in January.

With respect emma_efc, who wouldn't want the latest/best (subject to personal opinion granted). I know I do.

Hello all.

Im new & just signed up becasue of my outrage about the new removal of unlimited
data on 02. my last bill showed 27 Gig of data in less than 30 days so how is the
new 500meg plan going to help me? i could use all that in 30mins & thats supposed to last me a month. JOKE. im leaving o2 now & taking both my contract to another
provider.

Is the 700 KB figure incorrect?

Not far out, I've just downloaded the O2 home page on my trusty Nokia 9300i and it was just over 600KB.

Thanks for this info. Do you need to download that amount of data every time you access the website?

Interesting question. That would depend on how much the browser would be able to cache and what has changed on the site since the last visit.

There are probably as many that rate Android as iPhone and this is purely down to personal preference but you are right that it doesn't address the data limit issue.

I am concerned that as time goes by our demands will increase not totally our fault, Apps are increasingly requiring network connections and so soon will Apple's own in app ad system, websites get bigger, more media heavy and whilst most do provide a mobile browser alternative not all do, FaceTime will eventually go 3G etc.

Now at the moment my contract will cover this but renewing my contract will not.

I am fully aware bolt ons are available but this does mean expense that would not previously be required so we will get less for the same amount of money.

O2 argue that a few are caning the network but have consistantly failed to address those abusers.

O2 are still making massive profits, it's not like they are down like lots of people and companies in the UK at the present, their profits are increasing.

If this is how they are prepared to reward long time loyal customers then I honestly hope that their bottom line is seriously affected by what could turn out to be a mass abandoning of the good ship O2.

How on earth does anyone consume 27 gig per month over 3G, I take it you don't sleep.

I think there must be an issues with your calculations or you are one of the reasons we are having our limits reduced.

what about free apps you might use, serving you ads all the time, nibbling away at your data limit
