I have just taken out a contract with O2 on a Samsung J3 and on my first bill found that one text message well within my allowance had been charged 50p. When I queried this with customer services the advisor gave me the information already mentioned in previous posts - emoji, picture, even a phone number. None of these applied and they offered to show me how to block SMS becoming MMS. Their link didn't work, but i've now discovered I can 'restrict' MMS so I'll try that. Thanks to the comments on this Forum I now suspect it was because my text message was 'too long' (106 words - perhaps 100 is the limit?). I will pursue it with O2, possibly through Resolver, because although this is an insignificant amount there is a principle involved which is costing people through no fault of their own.
