Not sure why data does not rollover for monthly contract O2 customers. I very rarely exceed my data allowance and during the one month in the last few years when I do I’m hit with excessive bolt-on costs. This seems unfair when other network operators provide for a rollover facility.

It's not something that O2 offer and clearly stated in the T&C's.

If it's important to you then O2 is not the right network for you.

EE Don't, Vodafone don't, 3 dont,... Some Virtual Networks do such as ID Mobile, so you need to look at them, its just a USP for them, and most people dont use the rollover on those networks either..

You could always switch to O2 PAYG which does give you rollover data.

Like you, I'm on a monthly contract and very rarely go over my data allowance as I work from home most of the time. The one time I go away for a couple of days I found I had used all my data.  I have just put my son on to a £10 per month rolling plan which does have the rollover facility.  With this he gets way more data than me AND the rollover facility. Seems like O2 are penalising contract customers. Why would anyone opt for a contract?

You asked :-

>> Why would anyone opt for a contract?

There are quite a few useful features on O2, such as 5G, that are not available to PAYG customers. One has to assess what features are important to you and to decide accordingly.
