Roaming Charges - Irish Border

Anonymous
Not applicable

I have been getting overcharged on my account from January 2012, I got the phone in December.  The 02 customer services have been bordering on 'moronic' when it comes to this subject.  I am seriously considering stopping my DD to them as they have overcharged me by almost £25 per month - every month.  Does anyone know who to contact, a person that may actually be able to resolve the situation?

If your phone is connecting automatically cross borders you need to set your network selection to manual to force it to use your home network. Everyone who lives close to borders have to do this as the phone will always connect to the strongest network signal. You can also turn off roaming in settings to prevent the connection.

Agreed, use manual selection. Please don't cancel your direct debit, you may see it as a solution but it could have awful effects on your credit file.

Many thanks, guys.  I have now made sure that my phone can only accept the 02 signal - I only found this out on Sunday from the 02 customer help desk.  I can't understand why on earth it took so long for them to pint that out to me Smiley Mad

Now I just need to find out why they have not sent an e-mail confirming the overcharges will be repaid.  If anyone can make a crisis out of a drama 02 seem to be masters at it.

Once again, thank you for all your advice.

Overcharges?

They might make a goodwill payment but why should they pay because you didn't have your phone set up correctly?

Everyone who gets near another country's border runs the same risk.

Actually, as 02 have refunded the money, I think that even you shall have to concede that these things are not as 'black & white' as you conveniently assume. Common sense, for once, prevails. We'll done 02.

As we said a goodwill payment, very nice they did that to cover your mistake.
