O2 to move jobs to South Africa
O2’s plans to transfer 200 UK jobs to a South African call centre run by its outsourcing partner Capita have been met with outrage from union leaders.
The operator said the move was part of ‘fundamental changes’ to its business strategy as it bids to become more efficient and respond to the continuing economic downturn and declining revenues.

Best the website is updated to remove all references to UK only call centres.
P.s. Plusnet moved there call centres back to the UK recently from south Africa.

That means more people that won't have a clue on live chat & cs then they'll have even more complaints

Will that happen? I still see stuff like T&C's that are 3-4 years out of date

One less reason to stick with O2 then.
I hate dealing with overseas call centers, its a big mistake on O2's part.
O2 has a great customer service reputation due to the UK call centers, why start ruining it?

Thing is, all the other majors have off-shore call centres too but this is a downward spiral to move off-shore generally. Though the article doesn't say if these 200 jobs are going to be retained in other divisions within o2 or its just Capita employees that going to have to find work elsewhere within the Capita group i.e. made redundant because there aren't any jobs in Capita because they're going through making people redundant.

Any sort of move from the UK is bad news. O2 have always prided itself in having all UK call centres. Not good news at all and will probably make O2 Chat useless.

Well I was just about to post the Article as ive just seen it. Im flabergasted and shocked. It was really why I praise o2 to all my work collegues and friends and always said that they have uk call centers.
To me this is a utter joke and stupidity on o2 behalf. Instead of getting rid of hard decent workers, get rid of some upper management, as at present o2 is going in the wrong direction now.
They say in the article its a excersise, mmm yes like we beleive that.
So when we call o2 what will it now say, Welcome to o2, our UK, South African based call centers.
Most companies are brining back call centers due to poor customer care and so on, you only have to read reviews etc and now o2 does this. eh Why?
Well I think its game over to be honest as im just giving up all together im affraid.
