It sounds like a temporary line or exchange fault.

It could be a temp exchange fault or it could be a fault with your adsl filter, worth changing that tbh, and also a good idea to unplug all the rest whilst you test your router, best to test it at the master socket (if you have a laptop try using the wireless, it will prove the socket/filter at least).
You could have some internal wiring issues, but the above will prove the filter/line, and is there any noise on the line when making calls etc?
