Hi there peeps, i was looking forward to the new Nokia N97 coming out, and wondered why i hadnt seen anything on the website, phoned o2 up and at first they said they were not going to do the handset at all, then they said well maybe they would but dont know, then finally yesterday told me that no way would they be doing this handset :mansurprised: ? Anyone know why? unlike o2 not to get this in to be honest, they have always had the others when they came out.

I spoke to carphonewarehouse today they told me they have 905 n97's in stock for o2 but they are just sorting the tariffs out so it should be out on o2 within the next couple of days ! 😆

If you look on the o2 shop site they've taken all the N series nokias off apart from the N95. Was going to order a N96 which was on there till about a week b4 the new i phone came out. Looks to me like o2 are trying to limit people options so that they will go for the i phone. Hopefully when all the i phone hype has gone they will put the n series phones back on.
When i was in my local o2 shop today i did ask about the n97 and they seemed to think it would be in in 3 to 4 weeks.

Phone them up, i emailed support 2 days ago about the N96 and they said it was available. it seems they have just taken it from the site but they are available!

I am very puzzled and bewildered that I am unable to get the N97 on an O2 tariff?
I have asked at various carphonewarehouse stores and they have all given me different replies. What is the official response to why they won't be stocking the N97?
I have been a loyal customer to O2 and also to Nokia and don't feel I should be forced to change.

My choices at present are to upgrade to a N85 or get an iphone. I won't be pressurised into getting an iphone, because it’s the only option!!! A 3.2 megapixel camera which is not good enough, if I’m expected to have the phone for another 18months.

My suggestion is then to have the N97 released on O2 and let the customers decide which phones they want.
I have noticed there are 2 Facebook groups already petitioning for this cause.
They are always able to change their minds if there is a call for it.

I can't believe this! I am due for contract renewal on 1st October I have a Nokia N95 with a great tariff, and wanted to upgrade to the N97, I have kept a close watch on the 02 website to see any sign of it making an appearance, and time is ticking on, and then I see this forum saying that the N97 will not be on 02 - I can not tell you how disappointed I am :robotsad: !! Although it looks nice, I am not keen on the Iphone, I have an Ipod already & don't like the amount of control that Apple have over it, so I am not really interested in the Iphone - I love Nokia phones anyway, I started out with a Nokia 11 years ago, I have had other brands inbetween & ended up with my beloved Nokia N95 and quickly got reminded what I had been missing out on! I was with Orange at the begining, before 02 was around and Orange (in my opinion) was the best network at that time, and it was really interested in it's customers for a very long time, unlike Vodafone ever was and has ever been - and then Orange was bought out by Vodafone, where I believe it went downhill from there on. I have been with 02 for 2 years now, and can honestly say that I have had absolutely NO complaints about their service or their value for money - infact I have recommended them to others on many occasions - (I am told I should get commission)! But If you believe in something that is nothing less than excellent, you want other people to share your experience, I am really very sad that 02 is not going to offer the Nokia N97 - it looks to me like an awesome phone, to me a mobile is not just a phone, but a mini organiser, I love techno gadgets. My N95 keeps me occupied wherever I am! COME ON 02 WHAT ARE YOU DOING - GET THE NOKIA N97 ON BOARD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!? - Please do something to stop me from leaving you at the end of the month :robotindifferent:

Boy am I #### off. I am due to upgrade tomorrow and may need to end my 02 Contract cause I can't GET THE N97 ON 02 CONTRACT!!. How #### is that!! I don't particularly want the iphone, and don't really want to go orange or vodaphone. 02 you are going to lose alot of good customers. I have been a faithful customer of 02 for about 7 years now and I have less than 24 hours to decide what to do. I could get the E75 but why get a phone that i don't really want. I'm going to call 02 first thing tomorrow and see if I can convince them to get the N97 on 02 tariff, I can't believe the sales have not been that great as I was told by Carphone Warehouse, they seem to be in demand to me.

Come on 02I thought you 'were better connected' well be better connected to your customers and get the N97 to those who want it on an 02 contract.

I have an N97 on o2 PayAndGo, but that's only because I bought the handset direct from Nokia and received it the day it hit UK shores.

Skype is definitely coming to the N97 (and not just limited to the 3 network). It's going to be available in either a firmware update or as a seperate installation.

you can get the n97 on 02 via tesco,

end your contract start a new with tesco and even port your number from o2 to o2

you can even swap the unlimited text for unlimit web and you will still get 500 txts, if tesco say no o2 wont allow it tell them to ring the manager chris at tesco beaumont leys, he knows his stuff.

ive had mine for months now, great phone admitidly a couple of minor bugs but will get sorted with software updates

i can tell you from 1st hand experience mate

THE VERY HIGH RETURN RATE AND EXSPENSIVE PRICE OF THE HANDSET DONT GO WELL TOGETHER INA BUISNESS SENSE

seriously i took out another contract to get the n97 with vodafone , the network is fine and has improoved alot even the customer services are top notch via their eforum , the n97 however is dire

ive had 5 months of a phone with beta firmware (thats v12 the latest) dodgy gps signal , camera lens cover that scratches , slow user os (ive used symbain for the last 5 years) , low ram , slow processor for this phone ,

ive had three n97s through replacement etc due to scratch camera cover , poor gps

nokia have just released a brevised backplate with a gps reciever that is now shielded from the interference from the main board and a revised camera cover that now clearly sits away from the camera lens instead of being so close that it just scratches dirt against it ruining the camera lens

its taken them 5 months to do this and v20 a stable firmware still hasnt been released

ia in the process of selling it now iam waiting for my fourth new one to turn up them iam selling it sealed in a box

the n97 may be worth getting if you get a new stock one with the revised back cover and better camera cover and shileded gps

if not you can allways visit a nsc and have it repaired under warranty and the new backplate fitted gps reception has been improoved by double apparently so well worth doing , no more random cut outs etc etc

seriously if o2 had taken up this handset it would have had so many returns and dedicated phone line for support and angry customers

check out the vodafone eforums
check out n95 users
check out google and type in gps problems / gps fixes / camera scratch

watchdog were getting involved so many people emailed them they started ringing them back and saying they were doing a show on it , next thing nokia announced the new backplate

i would choose the sony satio or the n86 mate

ive used/using the n86 at the min and its a top phone i havent used the satio heard the battery may be very poor so pay caution and check it out
