International tariffs/options - Advise needed please!

Anonymous
Not applicable

I am due to be going abroad working for a couple of months, I was just wondering if anybody could advise me what to do with regards to my SIM/tariff etc. I have an Iphone 6 with 9 months to run on my contract which is unlimited minutes, texts and 5GB data. I have had a look at the international options on O2's website but these are expensive.

What am i best doing? Should i get an international SIM and get my phone unlocked (still paying the O2 contract obviously) or should I just take my phone as it is, turn Data Roaming off and just limit my use and just use Wifi? If i need to then send a text I can just spend 40p doing so?

Thankyou in Advance for any advice.

Use Tugo over wifi only, turn off mobile data and as long as you only make and receive calls or texts between yourself and UK numbers (and stick to wifi), it won't cost you a penny.

If you're going to be away for several months, there's every chance that you will be making local calls wherever you are. You should get your phone unlocked before you go, and use a local Pay & Go sim from the country you're in.
