Mainly it's battery optimisation and ram management, but also plugs the last few stagefright vulnerabilities.

If you look on sammobile aswell for the s6 on o2 the very latest update has the kies symbol lit up as were the rest of them don't, what does that mean?

I have no idea how android updates work what so ever, they make no sense so alittle patience and understanding would be great

The kids symbol means it is the most recent update available direct on kids / smart switch.
It will be ota eventually

Eventually yes. OTA updates roll out by phone serial number but on Kies immediately.
